About Shinkaijusha
Shinkaijusha was established in January 1958 (Showa 33), led by Seiji Hotta
along with a group of artists from the Nitten organization and other art
societies. Members included Shinzo Akashi, Kyusaburo Ishikawa, Katsumi
Usuda, Tadamitsu Goto, Hisahisa Toyota, Kenzaburo Matsumura, Kahei Yokoyama,
Yoshitaro Matsushita, Rihachi Mochizuki, and Fuji Chigira, who aimed to
revive the former Kaijusha. With over 140 like-minded artists, the group
was founded based on the guiding principles of “Endless Exploration,” “A
Lifelong Passion for Artistic Creation,” and “Sincere Dedication to Painting.”

Closed: February 10 (Tue)
Hours: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Last entry: 30 minutes before closing)
Final day closes at 3:00 PM

5. Entry Fee
• Shinkaijusha members: Free
• General applicants:
• ¥10,000 for up to 2 works
• ¥2,000 for each additional piece
(Same fee applies to Painting, Sculpture/Craft, and Ceramics divisions)
Fees are non-refundable, even if the work is not selected.
6. Artwork Dimensions
• Painting I: Size 30 or larger
• Painting II: Size 20 only (includes Watercolor and Print of equivalent
size)
• All paintings must be framed (no glass)
• Sculpture / Craft:
• Height: 0.3 – 3 meters
• Area: within 2m²
• Weight: up to 80kg
• Ceramics I: Each side at least 20cm
• Ceramics II: Tea ceramics or small pieces
7. Artwork Requirements
• Must be original and unpublished work by the applicant
• Entry tags A/B/C must be affixed to the back of the work with title,
name, and address clearly stated
• Once accepted, artworks cannot be withdrawn
• No removal of works during the exhibition period
• The organizer is not liable for accidental damage during handling
8. Delivery Dates
January 26 (Mon) and January 27 (Tue), 2026
Time: 10:30 AM – 3:00 PM
9. Delivery Location
Basement Level 1, National Art Center, Shinkaijusha Exhibition Reception
• Remove packaging materials for hand-delivered works
• Take packaging materials home
• Do not send works directly to the museum before the delivery date
10. For Those Unable to Deliver In-Person
• Must be delivered to the designated shipping company by January 22 (Thu),
2026
• Include entry fee and shipping fee
• The designated shipping company will handle delivery and pickup based
on scheduled dates
• Artworks will not be accepted before the designated delivery dates
• Name of the designated shipping company is listed on the entry form
11. Pickup Dates
• Unselected works: February 4 (Wed), 10:30 AM – 2:00 PM
(Even if one work is selected, others not accepted follow this schedule)
• Selected works: February 17(Tue) and 18 (Wed), 10:30 AM – 3:00 PM
• Works not picked up on designated dates will be stored and shipped by
a contractor at the applicant’s expense
12. Pickup Location
Basement Level 1, National Art Center, Tokyo
13. Judging
• Judging will be conducted strictly by a panel of jurors
• Results will be sent by post
• No objections to selection or display decisions will be accepted
14. Awards
Outstanding entries will receive Shin-Kaijusha Awards and others
Winning works will be featured on the official website
15. Awards Ceremony & Reception
• Award Ceremony: February 4 (Wed), 4:00 PM
